Third Presentation: The Energy Advisor training program and housing energy audits - Manitoba Environmental Industries Association (MEIA) with Melissa Dorota.
MEIA will update you on the Energy Advisors (EAs) training program. This program was developed as per the federal government's Greener Homes initiative to meet the need for Energy Advisors (EAs) to help deliver the one million EnerGuide rating services for eligible homes in Canada. The micro-credential courses are targeted for Manitobans currently working in the fields of construction, trades or engineering, to provide necessary up-skilling. The program was designed to help learners acquire the knowledge and specialized skills to get registered as an EA and pass the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) federal examination.
Melissa has a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Political Science. With 15 years of professional experience, Melissa has a vast understanding of the environmental sector and has consulted with both private and public sectors. She has a background working with waste management and recycling, the natural resource sector, and First Nations community consultations on sustainability projects. Melissa brings project leadership and business development to the MEIA team as the new Industry Workforce Development Manager.
